An Extranet
is generally an integrated combination between a corporate
public site and an Intranet. It is often used to provide customers,
partners, suppliers or persons outside of your organization
with secure access to relevant information residing on your
system. Extranets are often used for online invoicing and
bill payment, account information, access to subscription
reference materials, and other similar functions.
